Chatterboxes (Speech & Language and Occupational Therapy group)
Date: Oct 1, 2018 to November 26, 2018 (Thanksgiving Monday is off)
Mondays 6:30pm-7:45pm
Location: Ontario Early Years Center - Oak Ridges
For Ages: SK to GR3
Cost: $200.00 - DSAYR Membership must be current
Chatterboxes is a group of that provides an interactive and social environment that will allow your child to develop school appropriate Speech skills as well as necessary fine motor & Gross motor skills. The goal is for children to learn to interact more with their peers, in an appropriate manner. It is run by a registered Speech Language Pathologist and registered Occupational Therapist. There will be 6 children in the group. The subject matter of the sessions will focus on school related themes as well as familiar daily situations. Parents are required to remain at the center while their child is in the program. It is a great opportunity to network with other parents and share information.

Musical Theatre
Date: September 16, 2018 to December 2, 2018
Sundays 2:00pm-3:00pm
Location: Thornhill
For Ages: 10 - 35
Cost: $141.25 - DSAYR Membership must be current
Thatz Showbiz Theatre Project believes in theatre as Education, Empowerment and Change and offers a number of Classes for all ages and stages and has been a leader in the industry for 5 years. Accessible theatre programs are our top priority and we are excited to offer (in collaboration with the Down Syndrome Association of York Region) Musical Theatre Motivation, a one of a kind musical theatre experience enriching the lives of the special needs community by giving students of all abilities a creative voice and chance to be heard. 10 session plus a final performance. Founded and taught by professional New York City singer and performer Sarah Magni who additionally has years of experience in drama therapy, respite care, and arts education, she brings a unique and fascinating program to the special needs community which enhances life skills, builds confidence and empowers students to release their creative potential.

Best Buddies Bowling Club: 5 pin Bowling
Date: Runs throughout the school year
Tuesdays 6:30pm-8:00pm
Location: Stellar Lanes, 1220 Stellar Dr, Newmarket ON, L3Y 7B9
For Ages: SK to GR 3
Cost: $12.00 for 2 games and includes bowling shoes
A fun, social group that gets together to bowl and have fun throughout the year. We are very interested in growing the group and making new friends. Come on a try it out. Call Jutta Johnson for information.

Karate 4 Change
Date: Sundays, 8 week sessions
Tuesdays 6:30pm-8:00pm
Location: King City
For Ages: all ages
Cost: $128 - DSAYR Membership must be current
Excellent gross motor skill building activity, helping with self confidence and self defence. Also a great social program for the students to make friends with others. Daniel is a martial arts professional who has worked with children with special needs for many years. He believes all children can benefit from martial arts training.

Parent & Tots Get Togethers
Date: 2 to 3 times per year
Location: Springvale Church, Stouffville
This is an informal gathering where parents of new born and young children with Down syndrome come together to talk about matters of interest. The children play, while the parents talk and discussa variety of issues.
