We are a group of parents, individuals with Down syndrome, educators and community support professionals who firmly believe in the inherent equality of people with Down syndrome. We are committed to promoting a positive image of people with Down syndrome as being valued community members
BUDDYWALK HISTORY
- DSAYR held it’s first Buddy Walk in 2005
- The first location was Richmond Green Park, in Richmond Hill, ON
- Buddy Walks have always been organized by volunteers
- Buddy Walk remains the largest fundraiser for DSAYR
- Over 400,000 participants join in a Buddy Walk world-wide every year

For over 30 years, the DSAYR has been serving the Down syndrome community of York Region through efforts such as:
- Representation on York Special Education School Boards
- Supporting parents of newborn children with Down syndrome
- Creating opportunities for skills improvement for our members
- Bringing awareness of the ABILITIES of people with Down syndrome into our communities
